Welcome to OCC! My name Whitnee and I am the owner and lead therapist at Onward Clearing Counseling. My goal is always to help you activate the best version of yourself. Though I believe the relationship experience is a shared one, I also know our individual paths are a critical component to how we act, react, love, and live in our shared journey with one another. In order to optimize your journey with your partner, I utilize a number of treatment modalities designed to maximize your "insight toolbox.”

An insight toolbox is a set of skills unique to you that work towards your continued growth and connection. In mastering those tools, we can hone in on what is most important to you and your goals moving forward.

If you are as passionate about wholeness and balance as I am, I would love to work with you.

"Step into the fire of
self-discovery. This fire will not burn you, it will only burn what you are not." -Mooji

Originally from Southern California, I grew up as a military brat. I’ve had the opportunity to live in different places and experience different walks of life. This experiential diversity has helped cultivate a greater sense of empathy and attunement with my clients and the work that we do. I recognize that each person has unique qualities and insights that should be honored through the therapeutic process.

When I’m not at work, you can catch me at a great taco and margarita place or walking my two dogs - Emma and Callee. And of course, I’m always in the mood for spending precious time with my family. When I’m zoning out (yes, therapists can zone out too), I’m a sucker for reality TV, rainy days, and fire places.

My belief is that we all heal through love and connection. When we learn to love and connect to ourselves, we can learn to love and connect to others in healthier ways. In connection and love we can reveal our truest self.  I believe that love and connection is what we, as humans, need in order to heal and yet it is often the thing we are most afraid of. In connecting with others, we are healing the hurts and pain in ourselves. This allows us to live a life of we deserve.

In our work together, we can explore and identify the obstacles to love and connection in your life. In doing so, we can begin to work on addressing these obstacles and issues that get in the way of your truest self, as well as love and connection. Many of us experience the stressors of everyday life, such as work, school, family and relationship issues. Together we can work in developing new tools to overcome your stressors and identified obstacles. Many of us struggle to live our best lives because of this. If you are ready to move forward on this journey, it would be my pleasure to take this Path to Wellness with you.

Quena Echeverri-Gonzales

I was born and raised here in Albuquerque. My mother is from northern New Mexico and my father from Medellin, Colombia. I have had the opportunity to travel to Colombia 3 times, twice of which were in my adult life. These trips provided a beautiful experience for me to connect with my family and cultural roots. Traveling is not just my opportunity for rest and relaxation, it is my greatest teacher in life. My travels have allowed me to connect with people of varying backgrounds and walks of life. Whether, it’s a quick weekend trip or a longer trip planned to another city, state or country, there is always something I learn from my travels. That has increased my cultural awareness and feeds my desire to learn.

Love is the bridge between you and everything”-Rumi

I studied Education in my undergraduate pursuits. I have dedicated most of my career to working with children in various capacities.  Through my personal and professional experiences, I witnessed the desperate need in humans to connect and be loved. Yet, I found that often our own experiences and past wounding get in the way of knowing we can love and be loved, that we deserve, and we are enough. This led me to pursue a master’s degree in counseling. In May of 2016, I received my License in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. During my various internships and since graduating, I have worked with individuals, children, adolescents, couples and families. I work as a relationship-based therapist, utilizing attachment-based theories amongst others.  My belief is driven by my desire to be authentic and genuine to create connection with my clients. The therapeutic relationship guides clients in their healing to experience vulnerability, trust and connection.  I believe that love and connection is what we all need in order to heal and yet it is often the thing we are most afraid of.
